The Big Five Marathon® trail run is held in the magnificent Entabeni Safari Conservancy in the Limpopo Province, among the wildlife of the conservancy. This unique race brings together long distance runners from all over the world. The route takes the runner right through the habitats of the most famous African game, such as Elephant, Rhino, Buffalo, Lion and Leopard. No fences, no rivers, nothing at all separates the runners from the wildlife. In these fascinating settings, we have carefully selected a route that will prove challenging to even the most experienced long distance runners. A truly unique, South Africa race in spectacular surroundings!

On 21 July 2013, Breakthru Midrand Striders will be opening up the streets of Waterfall Estate to thousands of enthusiastic and dedicated runners and walkers, for their annual race, which includes a 15km, run and walk as well as a 5km fun run/walk. Breakthru Midrand Striders have been organising a race since 1985 and over the years this event has been very successful and well organised boasting high ratings and enjoyment. The Breakthru Midrand 15 kilometre has been consistently ranked in a number of our surveys as a well organised and well-presented event. Over the last six years it achieved distinction as one of South Africas best loved 15 kilometre events. (Modern Athlete 2012)
The race venue for the last few years has been at the Midrand High School, but the event has outgrown the venue. We are pleased to announce that we have secured Waterfall Estates as our new venue for 2013. This venue will allow us to attract even more people to come and run in country surroundings. Over the years we have had the following sponsors: Nashua, Dan Perkins, Fatti's & Moni's, Panasonic, Sandown Motors, CS Holdings, Leppan Beech and Breakthru Sports Performance.
This year the beneficiary of the 5km fun run will be the Rotary Club.

Break away and experience a weekend in the picturesque Riebeeck Valley only 1.25 hours drive from Cape Town. This event is well organised by the Altech Autopage Swartland Athletic Club and offers a Marathon 42,2km and Half Marathon 21,1km as well as 10km or 5km Run or Walk.

The event starts and finishes at the PPC Cement Plant with entries closing on 22nd July. There will be no late entries, so get you enty in NOW!

The Old Eds 21 began in 1980 and has become one of the most sought after races to compete in. It is an ideal race for those who ran Comrades to start their preparation for City to City. The race is run through the tree lined suburbs of Houghton, Illovo and Killarney, and although originally a one lap race, due to road closures and security being more pronounced in some places, it is now run over a two lap course. The race has grown in popularity over the years, and now attracts upwards of 3000 runners with the 10 km race now being part of the day. It is an ideal course for the novice or beginner to run as there are very few hills. The run in is a gentle downhill run to ease the aches and pains at the end!
The day is usually blessed with fine spring weather.

Nelson Rholihlahla Mandela is a struggle giant and an icon of global proportion who transcends all borders and appeals to everyone across all walks of life. His historical association with uMgungundlovu District Municipality contributed and shaped the democratic, modern day South Africa that we live in today. This has made the District Municipality one of the critical nerve centres of the struggle against apartheid.

Nelson Mandela made his last speech at Manaye Hall in Imbali in 1961 and was arrested in Howick before being incarcerated at Robben Island for 27 years. Given that there is no one who better personifies the struggle against the then-government's racist rule than the legendary Mandela, it is for this reason that his historical association with the District Municipality will be coined and immortalized through the Mandela Day Marathon.

The inaugural race was won by Brighton Chipere, who finished the marathon in 2 hours and 12 minutes. The Mandela Day Marathon is an 'up run' that has 8km-long "Struggle Hill", followed by the 2km "Challenge Climb". The race is run on fully paved roads and the
